A Daily Geography Game With Four Different Challenges

Daily Geo is a free, browser-based daily geography game. There is no account or signup: open the challenge, play four rounds, get one score, and return after the next UTC reset.

Play today's challenge

One shared challenge each UTC day

Everyone receives the same generated challenge for a given UTC date. The puzzle does not depend on your timezone, browser, or account because there is no personal puzzle roll.

The four round scores combine into a total out of 8,000. A complete session is designed to take roughly 5-10 minutes, though difficult rounds can take longer.

If you leave partway through, progress is saved locally on the device. Completed rounds are locked, so refreshing the page does not reset a difficult puzzle.

The four rounds

Border Fragment

Identify a country from part of its outline. Reveal more only when you need it.

Geo Triangulation

Choose up to three reference countries and combine distance and direction clues.

What's Around Me?

Read the shapes and placement of land neighbors around a missing country.

Geo Sort

Put five countries into one unambiguous geographic order.

Scoring rewards solving with less information

Border Fragment, Geo Triangulation, and What's Around Me? begin at 2,000 points and deduct points for clues, probes, or incorrect guesses. Geo Sort uses an attempt-based score: 2,000 on the first submission, 1,500 on the second, and 1,000 on the third.

A failed round scores 0 but does not block the rest of the daily challenge. The full scoring and rules guide includes worked examples.

Why the challenge is deterministic

Daily Geo does not rely on someone manually publishing four new puzzles every night. The UTC date and a versioned geography dataset seed the generator, while separate eligibility rules decide which countries can appear in each mechanic.

Target-country rounds use monthly shuffled country lists to reduce repetition, and an automated test generates 1,827 days of challenges to catch structural failures.

Streaks and sharing

A streak advances when all four rounds for the UTC day are completed. Your result can be shared as spoiler-free text, so another player can compare scores without seeing country answers.

Personal progress and history are stored locally. Daily Geo does not require an account to keep a streak on the device you use.
